10-minute Indoor Walking Workout for Seniors, Beginner Exercisers

This 10-minute indoor walking workout will help improve your cardiovascular health by getting your heart rate up and increasing strength with exercises that work your legs, glutes, core and upper body. Perfect for seniors and beginner exercisers. This workout is about 1200 steps, more or less depending on your pace.

Join my 81-year-old mom and me as we walk and say yes to next steps to good health. Take her advice: “Don’t sit around. Get up and walk!”

Marching or walking in place is the foundation for the workout. The 30-second rounds will also work on your balance and coordination, which is important to prevent falls, the leading cause of non-fatal and fatal injuries among seniors.

Be sure to warm up before doing this workout. Do one of our warm up videos:

  1. Thank you! It’s good for me . I need to build up because I’ll be hiking with my 28 yr old in 9 months LOL

  2. I really love these exercises. They help so much with my mobility after knee replacement. Building up fitness every day. THANKYOU !

  3. I’m 54 and haven’t worked out for years. I walk the dog most days and move around at work but don’t challenge myself. These are perfect for getting back into things. I can step up the pace if I’m feeling it and it really does help me to have more energy throught the day. I love the variety of videos because I get bored very easily. I’ve even convinced my husband to join in. Thank you ladies for helping to motivate me! You’re awesome

  4. New subber. Did my first ever indoor walking workout with this video and I feel great! Usually try to walk outside but getting too cold this winter and been having lots of rain. Getting up there in age and so glad I found you two, love it that you’re a mother/daughter team doing these together. Thanks again! 😊❤❤

  5. This was perfect! I’m in my third trimester and have some mobility restrictions placed on me but was told a nice light workout like walking is okay. This was perfect for living in the cold North where it’s always snow storming. I’ll be doing this for the remainder of the pregnancy. These two are so enjoyable to listen to and watch also!

  6. Really love your videos. Recent C-section mom that loves afternoon walks, but I use these if I cant get outdoors

  7. I just found your video. Is there a way i can save it on my tablet where i can go straight to your video with out having to search for it

  8. I am 27 and usually very sick person, feels like my immunity is 80 years old, my heart is also very weak, resting heart rate goes 90, its so high for my age group, but i am determined to do some easy exercises for my body, i will gonna do this definitely, not heavy workout gyms or pilates, just simple walking on my own pace.

  9. Thank you so much. I just found you today 1/31/25. Im 65 and dont want to lose my mobility. It rains so much where I live. This is a great option for me. ❤

  10. I am 76 years old and live in the Midwest. It’s January now, and I love your videos because going outside is out of the question right now . These days there’s lots of snow and single degree temperatures. I love that your mother is there with you. I see this is from four years ago, I hope your mother still doing as well as she is in the videos. Right now my plan is alternating days… One day chair yoga with you and your mom, the next day walking in place. I subscribed. keep up the good work👍👍

  11. Not a senior, but I’ve been sick a lot and gettong back issues, and this feels like an actual beginner-friendly workout. Thank you!

  12. I started with the 5 minute workout and I’m now on the 10 minute. I’m 72 and recovering from back surgery and your workouts are wonderful. I get a kick out of your mother. Thank you so much for these.

  13. I am 70 years old (retired 5+ years) and have become sedentary. I was recently diagnosed with a blood clot in my lower leg due to inactivity. Thank you so much for your video. I didn’t think I would be able to do 10 minutes but it wasn’t hard for me ❤️

  14. I have been sedentary for many months. I’ve had balance issues. But today I tried this video. It was just what I needed. My hips and knees hurt a lot but everything was doable. Thank you! Your mom is also an inspiration.

  15. Thank you for this. 5 years ago I used to go to a gym twice a day and now I just can’t seem to manage anything. But I did this today and was shocked when it was over because I did it!! Thank you!!

  16. I’d done several of these workouts. Today’s is the first where Aiko has done the exercizes standing rather than sitting. Very nice to see!

  17. I am 81 years old .I did not get much exercise so I started. I was surprised I did not get winded .So I added 2 lb weights now I feel the difference. Thanks.

  18. I just discovered your video (1/14) and am thrilled to have made it all the way through. I’m 84 and fractured the neck of my right femur 5 weeks ago. I kept my walker in front of me through the video but barely needed to touch it. Success! I’ll be returning regularly.

  19. hey ladies just so you know I didn’t quit or even take break lol I just didn’t post online everyday ladies everyday Hugs

  20. I just found you. I want to thank you for your videos. I am 67 years old and had a total hip replacement 3 years ago. Ever since I have had back aches. I tried stretching walking etc. I had found about a month ago an exercise that stretches my hip flexors, which has helped, and boy are they tight. Well after 1 day of doing your 10 minute workout, I tried the stretches again, and they were so much easier to do! I can’t wait to try all your videos once I build myself up.
